Waterloo Family Dentistry & COVID-19
The last couple of months have been nothing like anyone in our generation has experienced. We hope that you and your loved ones are in good health and also in good spirits. A lot has changed in family dentistry and life in general during this period but one thing will always remain the same – our commitment to your oral health, your general wellbeing and safety.
Infection control has always been a top priority in our family dentistry practice and you might have seen this during your visits. We have always employed the highes level of infection control practices to ensure that when you receive care, it is as safe and comfortable as can be. Very early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, we realized the needed to do even more with our infection control practices and undertook drastic measures to minimize exposure to you, your loved ones, our incredibly committed staff and our community in general.
As the situation has evolved, and as businesses continue to reopen, we continue with our resolve to protect our customers in full accordance with the Health Guidelines of the Ontario Government. We are also in liaison with all relevant health agencies (including our regulatory body, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Ministry of Health and the Canadian and Ontario Dental Association) to ensure that our infection control procedures are current and up to date with all relevant guidelines and recommendations that may be issued.
- When you come in for your next family dentistry appointment, you might see that changes aimed at protecting our patients, staff and the community in general. They include;
- When you book your appointment, you will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms by email or telephone including a cough, fever, difficulty in breathing and sore throat.
- Upon arrival for your actual appointment, we will perform another screening for COVID-19 Symptoms. If you have any of the symptoms, please let us know in advance and do not come in for your appointment.
- You will need to come alone for your appointment if possible to reduce the number of people in the clinic. People who need assistance including children might be accompanied by one person who will also need to be screened.
- You will notice that our reception room has been changed to allow for social distancing and plexi-glass barriers between our front desk staff and the patients.
- You will be asked to sanitize your hands upon arrival and when leaving.
- We ask you to come with your own face covering or mask. We will also provide you one at a nominal fee is you arrive without a mask.
- Although we already have a specialized 2 part dental air filtration system we will also now have air purifiers in all our operatories to create a clean an environment as we can. All of our operatories have been fully closed in with floor to ceiling glass doors to prevent any cross contamination between patients.
Our primary concern remains to be the health and safety of our patients and staff.
